City of Leeds Suffered Storm Damage

The City of Leeds suffered storm damage when a tornado or similar wind strike came through the Dunnavant area last night. Channel 6 and 13 News crews were on the scene. Among the damage, a tree fell on a mobile home which trapped a couple inside their home on Cedar Avenue. The tree actually split the mobile home in two. The couple called for help and their neighbor came to help. Rescuers were able to get them out. Some other homes in the area sustained damage, but no injuries were reported. The City of Leeds crews were on the scene with cleanup efforts. Church of the Highlands Disaster Team was also on the scene to help. Everyone worked well into the night. City crews were back on the scene this morning after Alabama Power cleared the power lines and continue to work in the cleanup efforts under the direction of the City’s Public Works Supervisor Johnny Warren. Thank you to everyone who has helped and continues to work in these disaster restoration efforts.
