Leeds Community Clean Up

Leeds Community Clean Up is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, 2019.  Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Moton Center at 1721 Moton Street with cleanup from 10:00 a.m. until Noon.  This event is in partnership with Leeds High School, the City of Leeds and Jefferson County Litter Quitters Committee.  Leeds High School students are spearheading this year’s clean up event as a Litter Quitters competition with other schools in the Cahaba Watershed.

LHS students will participate in this event and also capture video footage during the cleanup to create a video that promotes environmentally friendly activities such the city cleanup.  Other schools in this competition include Trussville, Homewood, Hoover, Vestavia and Mountain Brook.  Prizes will be awarded for the best video with first prize being $1000 to the winning school.  Litter negatively affects our drinking water and marine life when it gets into our rivers and streams.  The video will be a great tool to promote the value of taking care of our environment.
