March 12-20 Census Invitations Go Out

You Count! Your Family Counts! The 2020 Census is here! March 12-20, 2020 Invitations to respond: Homes will receive official Census Bureau mail with detailed information on how to respond.

April 1 is Census Day

April 1 is Census Day! When you respond to the census, you'll tell the Census Bureau where you live as of April 1, 2020.

Learn Who to Count

Learn Who to Count! If you are filling out the census form for your home, you should count everyone who is or will be living there as of April 1, 2020.

Your Response Matters

Your response matters! Health clinics, fire departments, schools, even road and highways are all part of why each person must be counted. The census can shape many different aspects of our community. These results help determine billions of dollars in federal funding that can flow into our state and community, but only if everyone is counted! It will cost the City of Leeds approximately $1600 in federal funding for every person who is not counted. It will also mean that our state could lose a congressional seat and that means that our voice could be smaller in Washington to look out for our best interest if everyone in the state of Alabama is not counted.

So as you can see, it is very important to be counted.

Your Information is Completely Safe

It's safe! Your personal information is protected and cannot be shared with anyone. This means that no other federal agency can access your information. Even if you have an outstanding warrant or you are not a US citizen, the census is safe. Your information is safe and it is important that you are counted so that the City of Leeds will not lose valuable dollars that can make a difference in the lives of each of us!
